My friend Philippa and I met Johnny very recently at Henley Festival when we shared a bottle or three of champagne together. We kept in touch and I was shocked and saddened to learn of his tragic illness. Even on such a short acquaintance I could tell he was a great character - kind, amusing, generous - a real gentleman who I am sure will be sadly missed, especially Robert and Sarah.
